Michael

Prof. Mike Christian (MD, MSc, MBA, FRCPC, DRCPSC, CCPE) is a physician, researcher, and healthcare executive with nearly 30 years of experience spanning critical care medicine, public health, emergency preparedness, aviation medicine, and prehospital care. 

Michael's Story

Beginning his career as a paramedic, he has held senior leadership roles in Canada and the United Kingdom, including Chief Medical Officer, Chief Safety Officer, and executive leadership positions within major air ambulance and healthcare organizations.

He is currently the CEO of an innovative not-for-profit healthcare start-up in British Columbia focused on reducing health inequities and improving access to timely, high-quality care for rural, remote, and Indigenous communities. 

Mike is a Clinical Professor at the University of British Columbia, a retired Royal Canadian Air Force medical officer, and an internationally recognized expert in disaster medicine, critical care, and health system improvement.

Throughout his career, he has worked at the intersection of frontline care, governance, research, and innovation, with a particular interest in learning from the experiences of patients, families, providers, and communities to drive meaningful and lasting improvements in healthcare systems.
